26.06.23 - This coming week in Early Years

Hello everyone!

We have had a very eggciting week with 8 chicks hatching this week! We have been enjoying looking after them and watching them wander around, making lots of noise!

A reminder of some upcoming dates:

Saturday 24th June        PTA Fete 1pm-5pm
Thursday 29th June        Class photos
Thursday 29th June        Class swap during the afternoon
Tuesday 4th July            Open School 4.30pm-6.30pm
Friday 7th July                Sports Day

Sports Day
A letter regarding the arrangements for Sports Day will be coming out this week, but Early Years have their races during the afternoon.


Now on to our learning for the coming week, we will be:
  • Sharing the Superhero story about Max and Pinky.
  • Starting Phase 5a in our Phonics sessions, recapping some of our trickier sounds.
  • Learning about odds and evens in our Mathematics sessions.
  • Creating some flying Superheroes using our handprints and then writing a speech bubble for them.
  • Reading and discussing the story "Perfectly Norman".
  • Having our class photographs taken on Thursday morning.
  • Finding out about our new classes and meeting our new teachers on Thursday afternoon.
This week there will be a drop in on THURSDAY.

19.06.23 - This week in Early Years

Hello everyone!
The end of another busy and hot week! We have been enjoying our garden and want to say a huge thank you to everyone who sent their child in with suncream.

Next week we will be having a very eggciting week in school, we will be:
  • Receiving some eggs, for us to look after and watch hatch this week.
  • Listening to the story "Chicken Licken" and trying to recognise all of the rhyming words.
  • Consolidating our learning in our Phonics sessions this week, working on words with consonant clusters.
  • Meeting Numberblocks 13, 14 and 15 and learning all about these numbers.
  • Learning about sharing in our Mathematics sessions.
  • Playing a game using our super senses, this time using touch.

Apologies for the lack of drop in last week, unfortunately events in school meant we were unable to do one. This week's drop in will be on MONDAY.

12.06.23 - This coming week in Early Years

Hello everyone!

We have had a lovely sunny week and with the weather set to continue please could the children come to school with a clearly named sun hat and suncream. (Sunglasses are also allowed if you wish). We do spend a large part of the day in our garden so please ensure your child has suncream on when they come to school. The children are encouraged to apply it themselves (with a little bit of help) before lunch.


As we are now in the last half term we thought we would start the blogs each week with some important upcoming diary dates.

Friday 16th June            PTA Father's Day Sale (in school time)
Saturday 24th June        PTA Fete
Thursday 29th June        Whole Class photos
Tuesday 4th July            Open School - 4.30pm until 6.30pm
Friday 7th July                Sports Day (Early Years is in the afternoon)


PTA Father's Day Sale
On Friday 16th June the PTA will be running a Father's Day sale in school. During the day your child will have the chance to attend the sale if you wish them to. The items are priced between £1-£3.50. We ask that the children bring money in a named purse, wallet or envelope, along with a carrier bag with their name on to hold the purchased items.


Now on to the learning for this coming week, we will be:

  • Writing about Jack Jack, using some of our ideas from the word bank we created last week.  
  • Discussing 5 new Vocabulary Ninja words. 
  • Continuing with our work around adjacent consonants in our Phonics sessions, this week we will be writing words containing gr or mp.
  • Working on Doubling in our Mathematic sessions.
  • Sharing and discussing the story "Ruby's Worry" in our Circle Time session. 
  • Making some special cards to take home on Friday.

05.06.23 - This coming week in Early Years

 Hello everyone, 

We hope you have all had a lovely half term. We will be starting our new project this week, so we are looking forward to seeing all of your Superhero ideas!

This week we will be:


  • Sharing our Half Term news and our ideas for our new project.
  • Watching and discussing the Disney short "Jack-Jack Attack".
  • Thinking about the characters in the film and what they were like, working in a group to describe them.
  • Watching Numberblocks and talking about numbers beyond 10 in terms of how many tens and how many ones they have.
  • Naming and describing 2D shapes and using these shapes to create new ones in our Mathematics sessions.
  • Creating mini superhero puppets, by carefully cutting them out.

There is no drop in this week - drop in sessions will start again next week.
