27.06.22 - This coming week in Early Years

Hello everyone!

What a fantastic time we had on Friday, the children looked fabulous and we had lots of fun! Unfortunately the Early Years camera has not been working properly for the last 2 weeks and the photos are on our iPad...which won't let me download the photos unless I'm in school, so apologies for the lack of photos. I will rectify this next week!

As promised, here is a rundown of the events taking place over the next 2 weeks:

Tuesday 28th June         Drama 4 ALL session
Friday 1st July                PTA Disco
Friday 8th July                Sports Day
Saturday 9th July            PTA Summer Fete 1pm-5pm

Drama 4 ALL
We will be taking part in a drama session, run by Drama4All, becoming Superhero Eco-Warriors, learning about recycling.

PTA Disco
Information for this has been added on the website and our social media pages. The last day for paying in advance has now passed, but tickets can still be purchased on the day, the cost for these is £5.

Sports Day
A letter regarding the arrangements for Sports Day will be coming out this week.

Rights Respecting Schools Award
A huge thank you to all the children, parents, staff, governors and PTA members who took part in our recent reaccreditation for the UNICEF Rights Respecting Schools Award. We are happy to share with you our recent report confirming our success in maintaining the Gold Award!
Take a look at the report here and read more about what RRS means to us as a school here.
We thank you all for your continued support in learning about Children's Rights which is key to fulfilling our curriculum statement; learning to care for ourselves, each other, our school and our world.

Go team Down Hall...WE ARE GOLD!

Now on to our learning for the coming week, we will be:

  • Sharing the Superhero story about Max and Pinky.
  • Enjoying a drama session where we will learn about recycling, becoming Superhero Eco-Warriors.
  • Learning to 2 more Phase 4 tricky words and trying to remember how to spell the Phase 2 and Phase 3 tricky words in our Phonics sessions.
  • Working on some number problems in our Mathematics sessions.
  • Continuing our work on senses, this week we will be playing a game where we will need to use our sense of sight.
  • Creating some flying Superheroes using our handprints and then writing a speech bubble for them.
  • Reading and discussing the 3rd book in our Tom Percival series, this one is called "Perfectly Norman".
Apologies for the lack of drop in sessions so far this term, unfortunately I have had a number of meetings to attend after school over the last few weeks. This week there will be a drop in on WEDNESDAY.

I hope you are all having a lovely weekend, see you tomorrow.

20.06.22 - This coming week in Early Years

Hello everyone!

What a lovely sunny week! It has maybe got a little too hot today, but this afternoon's iced lolly has definitely helped!. As promised last week, I am starting the blog with events that are taking place over the next 2 weeks.

These are the events for the next 2 weeks:

Friday 24th June            Times Tables Rock Stars Day
Friday 1st July                PTA Disco
Friday 8th July                Sports Day

Times Tables Rock Stars Day
This week, we showed Mrs Hurley how fab we are with our Numberblocks times table song, in preparation for the Time Tables Rock Star Day. The children will still be having their PE session in the afternoon so their Rock Star outfit needs to be suitable to do PE in!
(If your child doesn't want to be a rock star, that is fine, they can simply come in non-uniform).

PTA Disco
Information for this has been added on the website and our social media pages. The last day for paying in advance is Friday 24th June.

Sports Day
I realise this is more than a fortnight away but wanted to give this information. For Early Years, this will take place in the afternoon after the family picnic lunch. Further information about this will be coming out soon.

Now on to our learning for the coming week, we will be:

  • Writing about one of the characters from "The Incredibles", including important information, for example discussing whether they used their powers for good or bad things. (Again we've run out of time this week for this activity!)
  • Learning to spell some more of our Phase 3 tricky words in our Phonics sessions.
  • Learning about odd and even numbers in our Mathematic sessions.
  • Using our "Super Senses" in different games with our Prefects.
  • Sharing and discussing the story "Ravi's Roar" in our Circle Time session.
  • Enjoying our Rock Star day on Friday!

Have a lovely weekend!

13.06.22 - This coming week in Early Years

Hello everyone!

A lovely sunny day - I really hope that it continues over the weekend.

As we are now in the last half term I thought I'd start the blogs each week with some important upcoming diary dates and further information about them.

These are the events for the next 2 weeks:

Thursday 16th June       Whole Class Photos being taken
Friday 17th June            PTA Father's Day Sale (in school time)
Friday 24th June            Times Tables Rock Stars Day

PTA Father's Day Sale
On Friday 17th June the PTA will be running a Father's Day sale in school. During the day your child will have the chance to attend the sale if you wish them to. The items are priced between £1-£2.50. We ask that the children bring money in a named purse, wallet or envelope, along with a carrier bag with their name on to hold the purchased items.

Times Tables Rock Stars Day
This week, we have joined in with the rest of the school in learning our times tables. We have started to learn a Numberblocks song all about the 1 x table. On Friday 24th June, we would like all staff and pupils to take the opportunity to dress up as rock stars for the day. During the morning the children will take part in a range of maths activities. Prizes for the best dressed rock star will be handed out. As this is not a charity event we are not asking for a donation to dress up.

Now on to the learning for this coming week, we will be:

  • Continuing to watch and discuss the film "The Incredibles".
  • Writing about Jack Jack, using some of our ideas from the word bank we created last week.
  • Discussing 5 new Vocabulary Ninja words.
  • Learning about sharing in our Mathematic sessions.
  • Using our "Super Senses" in a feely bag game.
  • Sharing and discussing the story "Ruby's Worry" in our Circle Time session. (We ran out of time for this week).
  • Making some special cards to take home on Friday.

Have a lovely weekend!

  • Starting to learn about our times tables, watching a Numberblocks song to help us and then having a go ourselves.
  • Learning about doubles in our Mathematic sessions.
  • Creating mini superhero puppets, by carefully cutting them out.
  • Sharing and discussing the story "Ruby's Worry" in our Circle Time session.
