11.07.22 - This coming week in Early Years

Hello everyone!

I hope you have all enjoyed our Sports Day today, I was incredibly proud of all of Pearl Class for having a go and taking part.

The end of term  is rapidly approaching and I can't quite believe that next week is the last full week! Here is a run-down of what is left to happen this term.

Saturday 9th July           PTA Summer Fete 1pm-5pm
Thursday 14th July        Open School evening 4-6pm
Friday 15th July             Reports out
Wednesday 20th July    Last day of term

Open Evening
On Thursday 14th July from 4-6pm, parents and the wider community are invited to visit Down Hall for our Open Evening. This is an opportunity for you all to come in and see some of the work the children have done in school this year and look around their classroom. You can also visit other classes as well to see where your child will be working next year. We look forward to seeing you all!

This week the children have enjoyed a second visit to their new class, spending time yesterday afternoon with Mrs Yuille. They have a further visit this coming week too.

On to our learning for this week, we will be:

  • Sharing the story "One Year with Kipper" and thinking about our first year at school.
  • Updating our names on the classroom display for one last time!
  • Creating mazes in our Mathematics sessions and giving each other directions so that we know how to get out!
  • Thinking about our project and checking if we have answered all of the questions we asked at the start of the project.
  • Discussing the story "The Worrysaurus" in our Circle Time session.

UNICEF Shoeshare Appeal
Once again, on the last day of term, we are collecting shoes in partnership with UNICEF and Clarks, who will cleverly turn our old shoes into money that will help fulfil the rights of children around the world. You can send your child with a spare pair of shoes on the final day this term so that they can place their unwanted school shoes into our collection box. If you have any other unwanted pairs you can send these in too and if you want to get started early with a big shoe clear out, we will have a box ready to take them from Monday 11th July. Shoes must be in a wearable condition with no holes or broken soles and paired together with an elastic band. You can find our more about Shoeshare by clicking here
Our last collection total was 145 pairs of shoes, let's see if together we can smash this total!
Article 28 & 29: Every child has the right to an education

Have a lovely weekend and hope to see some of you at our school fete tomorrow!
