15.07.24 - This coming week in Early Years

Hello everyone!

We hope you have all enjoyed our new look Sports Day today and had a lovely time. We are thankful that the weather behaved itself this week and we managed to hold it. This week has been a very busy one for Pearl and Quartz. We have had a visit from 4 Police Officers and their 2 vehicles, they told us all about their jobs and we got to have a turn to make the sirens and lights work on their vehicles. Then on Thursday we met our new teachers and spent time in our new classes!

Reading Books
In preparation for next year, we will be collecting in all reading books on Wednesday 17th July. If you know you will be away before this date, please hand in your reading book before this date. We would encourage you all to take part in the summer reading scheme at the library during the holidays to help keep up your child's reading during the 6 week break.

UNICEF Shoeshare Appeal
We are raising money for UNICEF by taking part in the Shoeshare scheme with Clarks of Rayleigh.  So, please search your cupboards for old pairs of shoes that you no longer need!  Send them to school and we will do the rest.  Shoes need to be in pairs and of a wearable condition.  Money will be used by UNICEF to support education projects around the world.  Every child has the right to an education (A28 &29 UNCRC) and as a Gold Rights Respecting School we are proud to be supporting UNICEF with this project.

On to our learning for this week, we will be:
  • Sharing the story "One Year with Kipper" and thinking about our first year at school.
  • Finishing the last of our handwriting patterns in our Start-Bee sessions.
  • Thinking about our project and checking if we have answered all of the questions we asked at the start of the project.
  • Discussing the story "The Worrysaurus" in our Circle Time session.
  • Visiting our new classes, Bluebell and Daffodil on Tuesday and Friday.

Our final drop in session for the year will be on WEDNESDAY.

Have a lovely weekend,
Love
Miss Wakefield, Mrs O'Connor and Miss Langley xxx
