20.05.24 - This coming week in Early Years

Hello everyone!

With just one week left of this term, time certainly seems to be flying. The children have spent this week learning about a range of minibeasts and we will continue this next week, when we finish the book "Mad About Minibeasts". Mrs O'Connor will also be sharing her knowledge about Bees. She had come to speak to the children on Thursday, dressed in her beekeeper outfit. The children are very excited to learn all about hives, honey and bees!

Miss Wakefield and Miss Langley are off to the Isle of Wight next week, on the Year 6 residential. This means the children will have Mrs O'Connor next week.

So on to our learning for the coming week, we will be:

  • Finishing reading the poems in the book "Mad About Minibeasts".
  • Learning all about Bees with Mrs O'Connor.
  • Finishing our unit on shape in our Mathematics sessions.
  • Checking that we have answered all the questions posed by the children at the start of our Minibeast project.
  • Updating our name displays in the classes, trying our very best to form all of the letters correctly.
  • Enjoying a Wellbeing day at the end of term - wearing a piece of Green clothing if possible, to support Mental Health Awareness Week.

There is no drop in this week.

Have a lovely weekend

13.05.24 - This coming week in Early Years

Hello everyone!

It has been a crazy week here, we've packed in SO much into our 4 days. The children have been artists, scientists, athletes and much, much more!

We hope the children are enjoying sharing their reading books at home, please can we just remind you that all books MUST be returned each Friday as we swap them around for the following week. We are very proud of how well the children have adapted to these new sessions. Mrs Wood popped down to see it today and was very impressed with everyone's reading.

Now on to the learning for this coming week, we will be:
  • Sharing the book "Mad About Minibeasts!" which is full of rhymes about different minibeasts.
  • Learning some facts about some of those minibeasts like snails, slugs and bees.
  • Listening to Mrs O'Connor telling us all about her bees and showing us some of the equipment she uses to take care of them.
  • Updating our name displays in our classrooms to show how fabulous our writing is.
  • Continuing our work on shapes in our Mathematics sessions.
  • Discussing the book "Kipper's Monster" in our Circle Time session.

The last drop in session for this half term will be on THURSDAY

Have a lovely weekend!

06.05.24 - This coming week in Early Years

Hello everyone!

This week, not only have we had the excitement of our trip, we have also had a very spidery time! We've carefully followed instructions to make our own spiders and made some fridge magnet spiders too.

On to our learning for the coming week, we will be:
  • Watching the story "The Grasshopper and the Ants" and talking about who did the right things and why.
  • Creating our own snail collage, printing the shell and cutting out the bodies and comparing our masterpieces to "The Snail" by Henri Matisse.
  • Using the magnifying glasses we have made this week on some bug hunts around the school grounds.
  • Starting a new unit of learning in Mathematics, working with shapes.

This week's drop in will be on Friday, we will be showing photographs from our trip.
